Specialized Child and Youth Therapy Services
EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a type of therapy that helps people heal from past traumatic experiences. When we go through trauma, our brain sometimes struggles to fully process the memory, which can lead to lasting feelings of fear, anxiety, or sadness. During EMDR, a trained therapist helps you revisit painful memories while using specific techniques like guiding your eye movements or having you hear alternating sounds. This process helps your brain process the memory in a healthier way, making it less distressing over time. EMDR is commonly used to treat PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other trauma-related issues. By helping people work through these tough memories, EMDR can reduce emotional pain and help them regain a sense of control and peace.
Play Therapy

Play therapy is a type of therapy that helps children express and work through their emotions using play. Sometimes young kids may find it hard to talk about their feelings, play therapy allows them to use toys, games, and creative activities to communicate in a way that feels natural to them. Through play, children can express what they’re experiencing and begin to process difficult emotions like anxiety, fear, or sadness. A trained therapist guides the child in different activities to explore their feelings and situations that might be bothering them. Play therapy can help kids who are dealing with issues like trauma, grief, anxiety, or behavioral problems. It gives them a safe space to understand and manage their emotions, build coping skills, and develop healthier ways to handle life’s challenges.
Art Therapy

Art therapy is a type of therapy that uses creative activities like drawing, painting, and sculpting to help children express and process their emotions. Since children may struggle to put their feelings into words, art therapy gives them a way to communicate and explore difficult emotions through the act of creating. In art therapy, a trained therapist encourages the child to use art materials to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. The therapist observes the child’s artwork and guides them in understanding what the art may represent, helping the child work through challenges like anxiety, trauma, or grief. The process of making art itself can be calming and offer a safe way to explore difficult subjects. Art therapy can be especially helpful for kids who have trouble verbalizing their emotions or dealing with stressful situations. It provides a nonverbal outlet for them to express themselves, process their emotions, and develop coping skills. By engaging in art, children can gain insight into their feelings and experience emotional healing in a creative, supportive environment.
