The Sunshine Squad

This program is designed to celebrate and support neurodivergent children and youth—including those who experience Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, OCD, or social differences. We honor each child's unique way of being in the world and provide a nurturing space where they can build friendships, develop meaningful skills, and gain strategies to navigate daily life with confidence. We believe in meeting every child where they are, embracing their strengths, and ensuring they feel seen, valued, and respected.

Our goal is to create a welcoming and affirming environment where each child feels truly accepted and can thrive at their own pace. Conversations and activities are tailored to be meaningful and engaging, shaped by the needs and interests of the children and their caregivers. Every group is designed with joy, inclusion, and encouragement at its core.

Some of the skills we explore include:

  • Self-advocacy: Learning to express their needs, preferences, and boundaries with confidence.

  • Social-emotional learning: Understanding and regulating emotions in ways that feel right for them.

  • Executive functioning support: Strengthening organization and focus through strategies that honor their individual processing styles.

  • Perspective-taking: Developing an understanding of different viewpoints while honoring their own.

  • Collaborative problem-solving: Approaching challenges creatively and with support.

What supports a child’s success in this program:

  • Having a way to express their thoughts, needs, and ideas in conversations.

  • Being able to engage in group activities with minimal additional support for emotional regulation.

  • Wanting to participate in the program and connect with others.

  • If they have a diagnosis, having an understanding of how it relates to their experience—if they are comfortable with that.

Financial Accessibility & Support Options:

The cost of this program is $1200 per participant for the full session. We recognize that investing in a child's well-being is an important decision, and we are committed to offering a program that fosters meaningful growth.

We want to support families in accessing this program, and there are several pathways for funding:

  • Autism Funding: We assist families in completing a Request for Services form, which The Sunshine Centre will submit. While waiting for funding approval, children can begin the program without delay.

  • Insurance Coverage: While insurance providers often do not cover group sessions, we encourage families to check their policies to explore possible options.

  • Personal Funding: Families are welcome to contribute directly to program costs through personal means.

We are here to answer any questions and help navigate the best path forward for your child and family. Your trust and partnership mean the world to us, and we are excited to create a supportive, enriching experience together.
